Nagar Valley

Nagar Valley, also known as Nagar Khas, is located along road Gilgit – Hunza.   It is about 15 kilometres short from Hunza Valley and 105 kilometres  from the city of Gilgit.   The valley is home to many high mountain peaks including Rakaposhi, Diran Peak, Golden Peak and Rush Peak. The main towns in the valley include Sikandarabad, Chalt, Minapin, Gulmit and Hoper.     Burushaski and Shina languages are spoken in the valley.    Rush Lake, the highest alpine lake of Pakistan and the 27th highest lake in the world also lies in this valley.  From mid of April to the end of September the climate of the valley remains pleasurable and many tourists visit the valley in this part of the year.

Rakaposhi View Point

While travelling from Gilgit to Karimababd, Hunza, tourists make a must stopover at the Rakaposhi View Point, to relax and to enjoy the natural scenery in the shadow of Rakaposhi – the world’s 27th highest peak at 7,788 m. Small terraces along the water flowing down from the glacier have been created for tourists to sit, eat, and enjoy. During summers tourists enjoy sitting by, dipping feet in cold glacier water, and taking pictures of scenic views.  Just a decade back, the Rakaposhi viewpoint was nothing more than a gift shop and a local food outlet to serve mostly local travellers. Steadily, the development of local businesses including gift shops, handicraft shops, tuck shops, restaurants, campsite and now tourist class accommodation has turned this place a full-fledged tourist attraction.  Major natural attractions at the site include the mountain itself, the glacier surrounded by greenery and the melting stream flowing down the site permitting the visitors to enjoy the scenery and breeze.  This place is a great choice to stop by for a late and lavish breakfast or for an open-air lunch with great views. Chap-shuro, a kind of local pizza is the speciality of this place. One can order any kind of fresh local delicious food at an affordable prices.

Rakaposhi Base Camp

Rakaposhi is the most glamourous mountain of the Gilgit Baltistan Region.    Its peak is 7788 meters high above sea level which is considered  to be one of the most beautiful and easy accessible as compared to  any other mountain peaks in Karakoram.   This majestic  towering peak is visible  from all directions and surrounding valleys.   The first and most fabulous glimpse of Rakaposhi, while travelling from Gilgit to Hunza, is from the KKH opposite to Kino Kutto (“Black Knee” in local Shina language to denote the shape of the rocky mountain located between Chalt and Khizr Abad).  The broader view of Rakaposhi, however, at this particular spot with Jaffarabad village in the backdrop is stunning and serves as a threshold to Hunza.   The lush and green meadows and ablation valleys around this mountain range offers a thrilling adventure for the nature lovers. At 3,500 m, the Rakaposhi base camp stands for any hikers to climb and witness the majestic mountain up close and personal. The best time to hike Rakaposhi is from May to October where the trails are clear of snow and you are more likely to have a nice clear day.  While walking towards the base camp one comes across Minapin Glacier which is probably one of the most beautiful glaciers of the region. Its psychedelic pattern just captivate trekkers more than other glaciers.  Usually, a fit person can go to the Rakaposhi base camp and come back to Minapin village in one day.

Rush Lake

The Rush lake is a beautiful high altitude lake in Gilgit Baltistan. It is near Rush pari peak at an elevation of 5,098 meters above sea level. Rush lake is on the height of 4,694m, Rush lake is 25th highest lake of the world. Rush Lake trek in the heart of the Hunza valley, presents the best option. The trek takes one into some of most amazing mountains beauties. It crosses glaciers, meadows and terraced fields of Karakoram Mountains.  The trek to Rush lake starts from Hopper village, in the Nagar valley. The Journey from Aliabad to Hopper village takes about an hour. From Hopper village we can hire porters easily, who can carry the luggage up to the lake. The Rush lake remains frozen during the winters because the surrounding mountains and peaks remain snow-capped even in the summers. Only a few of the tourists possess the determination to reach to the heaven on the earth in the Gulmat called Rush Lake.
